Hoover Dam Bus Tour company-Groupon - Z

This was a "must see" according to anyone who has ever had the "tourist" experience in vegas. I had high expectations based on all the reviews, and it did not dissapoint. Our tour was a long bus ride, but with good company, and a good tour guide, I was not dissapointed with the trip there, or the trip back. The tour was educational, and very interesting to see. Lots of great pictures, and great visuals. I would truly suggest that you make you bring a good camera. I have a lot of blurry pictures from the trip. My ONLY true complaint is the lack of extra time at the dam. They leave you ALMOST no extra time after the tour to eat, and to walk around. We ran out of time and were not really able to see everything we wanted to see. I would reccomend them, but would suggest you prepare to run around quickly after the tour, or you bring a lunch, or eat while walking. Either way, its something that the hoover dam bus tour company could easily make "great" as opposed to "good". Value 8/10, experience 10/10, overall 7/10.

Alonzo Bodden

Us with Alonzo Bodden at the Improve Comedy Club (Shaumburg)
Website: http://www.improv.com/ComedyClub/Chicago

Shaumburg "Improv Comedy Club" - L

We had some free time Friday to go to the Improv Comedy Club located in the Woodfield mall in Shaumburg. The week before we had looked into going, but after seeing skits from the comedian that week we decided against it. I'm really glad we did though because the comedian we saw was Hilarious! I'm not one for comedians usually, but Alonzo Bodden had me laughing at almost all of his jokes. He said that he is usually inspired by watching the news so his comedy was really down to earth and recent. The headliners I thought we pretty funny as well. The venue had an intimate feeling to it. We got a table towards the middle of the room, which was nice. With the groupon we got a free appetizer and we ordered a couple of drinks, all of which was delicious. Our server was not the most attentive, we got our food and drinks pretty quickly(even if they tried to give us the wrong dish at first) but he was there and gone in a flash and rarely checked up on us until last call and the check came out. I feel like the waiter for the group in front of us was friendlier and more attentive. I am extremely excited that we have vouchers to go back, and possibly with some friends. I enjoyed myself a lot and would go back even without the vouchers.
Food: 8/10
Drinks: 8/10
Service: 6/10
Ambience: 9/10
Comedian: 10/10
Overall: 9/10

Schaumburg "The improv comedy club"-Z

Bought this groupon a little while back, and its definitely been on our list to use for a while. We reviewed the website for a while and finally settled on Alonzo Booden. He was a previous winner of "Last Comic Standing" and during the show made me laugh expensive booze out my nose. The drinks were good but expensive (I suppose normal for a 2 drink minimum comedy club), and the spinach artichoke dip was VERY good. My only complaint was the server, who was absent for a good portion of the show. Overall a very fun night, plus having vouchers to come back again with friends helps to seal the deal for them.
Food 8/10, Drinks 8/10, Service 7/10, overall 8/10. -Z

Us at RAW Bar

Raw Bar, Addison - Groupon - Z

Located in the near shadow of Wrigley Field, this was definitely a fun date, but needs a little TLC. It was almost dead the whole time we were there, so it was really quiet and intimate overall. Food was pretty good, the Dolmeh was a little like eating pickle relish, but the cheese ravioli was really good. The food definitely had Egyptian highlights, my favorite was the chicken salad. Wine was a tad expensive for the quality. Minus points for only having one entrĂ©e that was vegetarian friendly. The Penne sauce that they use was absolutely awesome though. The staff was REALLY attentive, my water was never empty, they all picked up after each other to keep our table clear for more food, but our server was BRAND new and needed to consult more than a handful of times with other staff. I would give it overall high marks with some areas that need improvement to make this “second visit” worthy. It was FUN but they definitely cost themselves, and I can’t say I really have any major desire to go back at this point. Food 7/10, ambiance 8/10, Service 7/10, overall 7/10. -Z

RAW Bar-L

Located on Clark in Wrigleyville, it is a nice small and intimate restaurant. Being a Wednesday night there were only two other couples that were there during the whole duration of our meal. The place has a very romantic feeling, with candles, fish tanks and small tables. Being a vegetarian myself, there wasn't a lot of options so we started with a cheese ravioli and dolmeh tapas, which were unique but still very good. Then we split the penne pasta dish which was pretty much the only vegetarian main dish they had, but it was excellent. The honey and ginger sauce they use was very delicious. We each tried a couple of wines and I ended up with a very light Riesling from Washington which was not the best Riesling I have had. Our waiter was very nice, but not the brightest, apparently he was very new there, but the service was very quick and attentive. Also, the manager who stayed behind the bar most of the time was not very friendly or nice. I felt the prices were a bit much for what they gave us and probably would not return there for full price especially because they did not have many options for my diet. I would recommend it to anyone who likes seafood or wants to try unique meat like alligator, ostrich or frog legs.
Ambience: 8/10 - romantic
Service: 7/10
Food: 6/10 (the taste would be an 8, but I deducted points for limited vegetarian options)
Overall: 6/10

Signature Segway Tours, October 31, 2011

Signature Segway Tours-Z

I had high hopes for this one. Training was fairly easy (I’m a vetran) , they took the time with everyone to make sure they were comfortable. We set out on our journey to the Museum Campus, Buckingham fountain (which was off), and out all the way to the Adler Planetarium. Some stellar views of the city, and our hosts had some great personality. Building seemed a little “thrown together”, and I think everyone says they have the “cheapest segway tour in town” but I would do it again, and give them high marks. I would send them business in the future. Fun date, even though by nature the segway keeps you spacially apart, but its a nice thing to experience together. Cool technology, but left my legs REALLY sore...they should carry a small warning card and sell things like advil/gloves/hand warmers.

Signature Segway Tours-L

So on Halloween we actually went on a Segway tour, we had bought from Groupon. The place was located right across the street from grant park and very easy to find. The night was a little cold and the segway left my calves hurting for a couple of day, but overall it was very fun. The views of the city at night were very pretty and the guides were very nice, helpful and knowledgeable about all of the stops. You can really get far in a short amount of time on those things! We started off by going to Buckingham Fountain then made our way to the Shedd, where we took a short break. From there we went to see the city view from the Planetarium and then a nice stroll around soldier field and then done. The only thing I would say that could have been better was maybe have a few more stops, by the end I felt like I hadn't seen a whole lot of stuff. There was also a lot of people in the group, and since they taught everyone individually how to ride, it seemed to take a long time to get up and moving. Overall it was a very unique and fun experience. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for that kind of tour and I believe their claim for lowest price is pretty valid. They also have bike rentals for $10! for anyone whose needs to get around the city on a nice day.
Score: 8/10
